Danville

The Town of Danville is located in the San Ramon Valley in Contra Costa County. It is one of the incorporated municipalities that calls itself a “town” instead of “city”. The population was 42,039 according to the 2010 United States Census. Danville is set in a narrow section of the San Ramon Valley with the Las Trampas Ridge to the west and the Diablo Range to the east. The most prominent landmark of Danville is the backdrop of Mount Diablo, which stands to the east at 3,849 feet and provides local hiking and camping, as well as a stunning backdrop for Danville and neighboring towns and cities. Like the other East Bay cities that surround it, Danville is serviced by three international airports. Notable residents from Danville include Astronaut Leroy Chiao, Major League Baseball player and broadcaster Duane Kuiper, and retired US Airways pilot Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger – who made an emergency water landing in the Hudson River and is credited with saving the lives of all 155 crew and passengers.
